Hippo Trails Camp is a member of Bougainvillea Group, a collection of safari camps and lodges in northern Tanzania, catering to discerning travellers. Our mission is to provide real Tanzanian hospitality to all our guests. Utmost care goes into making sure our staff are well trained to cater to our guests every need. Hippo Trails has a large, raised common tent with a separate dining room and comfortable lounge area. There is a full bar in the lounge, serving beer (including local brews), wine, spirits and soft drinks. The common tent also has a relaxing veranda with views to the nearby hills; and when conditions allow there is a nightly campfire. There is a public rest-room tent positioned nearby the common area. We’re located near many of  the main attractions in Serengeti National Park including Retima Hippo Pool, Seronera wildlife viewing circuits, Serengeti Visitor’s Centre and the Seronera Airstrip.

All our camps and lodges are well known for their excellent food. From the beginning, food has driven the hospitality and service model for our group. Our managing director is a trained chef of excellent standards and works with each team, including that of Hippo Trails, to ensure menus are diverse, delicious and nutritious. Breakfast consists of a buffet with fresh fruit and fruit juices, yogurt, cereal, pancakes (crepes) and other items complimented with any type of eggs to order as well as sausage, bacon, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. Lunches are often taken boxed, along on the daily game drive and we strive to make them different and interesting. Dinner is a sit down affair starting with soup, several choices of meat and plenty of vegetables topped off with a yummy dessert. We happily provide for special diets with advanced notice. Tea and coffee are available all day. Traditional African food is occasionally served, but if you wish for a full African buffet just let us know.

Free wi-fi is available in the common area tent. Sleeping tents are made up and serviced daily and your room steward will help with extra needs. Due to water scarcity we don’t offer laundry service and ask that you please conserve water in your tent. Purified water is provided in the tent for brushing teeth.
